Welcome to my website.

This is my new site and although still under construction, much of it is now in place. I hope you like it!

I am a painter printmaker, well known for my watercolour paintings  and linocut prints. I have produced a large body of work for over forty years.

I trained as a graphic designer and after working for several years for a London design group I moved to Derbyshire where I set up my own print workshop to produce posters for the Derby Playhouse and Winster Wakes which have now become collectors items.

With the acquisition of a full-sized Albion press I developed my technique of lino cutting using the reduction process. This is where the block is gradually cut away between each printing to create complex and bold images with up to sixteen colours.

I started painting in 1982 after taking a course in lithography, a more painterly printing process. My work was published by Christies Contemporary Arts as a series of seasonal floral still lifes. This is a constant theme for me. Sometimes a chance encounter but more often a careful arrangement of favourite objects such as lace, jugs , shells and flowers.

Light plays a key role, especially as since 1989 as I spend many months on a small Greek island. Here the dramatic and crystal clear light has been inspirational in my series of sunlit doorways and olive tree linocuts.

I have had many commissions for wonderful gardens and houses both in Derbyshire and Greece and am willing to discuss further commissions through my contact page.

I have exhibited widely both internationally and in Britain and my work is in many public and private collections including the Mitchel Library, Sydney, Australia, the cruise ships P&O Orianna and Swan Hellenic Minerva as well as various city councils and galleries and the Duke of Devonshire's private collection.

I am represented in Derbyshire by Gallery Top and in Greece by Jill Yakas.

Thanks for visiting.
